Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you accidentally miss a correct punch, don't try to fix it right away. First, go to https://oithr.byu.edu/student-employee and read the "DIY Timesheet Editing Instructions."

If that doesn't help or you need further corrections, the "Timesheet Correction" form is also linked on the page, or you can find it under the "Time Management" section in Quick Links.
  • We log time on NetSuite for the benefit of OIT's budget allocation. That way they know whether we are spending more time on one project versus another, and they know which projects need the most attention.

To log your hours on NetSuite, open NetSuite and follow the following steps:

    1. Hover over the “Transactions” Tab, then hover “Transactions” and click on “Weekly Timesheet”

    2. Select your week you will log time in by using the “WEEK OF” field or the “Prev/Next Week” buttons

    3. Under the “Enter Time” section, click on a new row and enter the code for your project and Task/Case

3a. Overhead hours Project Code: OVH-898 Overhead Hours. Task/Case Code: Training (Project Task)

3b. Program Granite Project Code: PRJ-7868 Program Granite HR and Finance Workday transition. Task/Case Code: OIT Billed Labor Hours (Project Task)

3c. More codes to come. If you don’t know your code, ask someone else in your office to share it with you.

    4. Enter your number of hours per project under each day with the associated number of “Paid Hours”, identifying how many hours you spent each day on each project

4a. For example, if you worked an 8 hour day and spent 7 hours doing work for your team and 1 hour doing professional development, then you would log your day with 7 hours in your team code and log 1 hour in Overhead hours (Training)

  • Use your professional development hour and make sure you've completed all available trainings. If you have a significant amount of free time, then reach out to Gordon and let him know you have X amount of hours/week of available capacity. (This process may change as we further develop a capacity management solution)
  • Tag @CSRs ITB in the "Technology Support" channel on teams. If you need a hardware replacement, post in the PMO Hardware Channel and the Hardware team will help you out.
